APW – Waltham, Railroader, Model 1892, 17J, 18S, gold-filled OF recase of unusual design with mvt held in an inner band that is secured by a threaded inner ring which is removed to allow mvt to exit from rear (this case design has no removable front bezel so is meant for use only with pendant set watches), case with with attractive engine turning and engraving detail, "Railroader Waltham" signed white enamel SS dial with bold Arabic numerals in radial orientation and heavy double track minute chapter, SW-LS, spiral pattern nickel damascene, s#7450566. A rare watch, the Model 1892 "Railroader" was made in just a few small production runs. Mvt: GRO, fine cosmetic mvt condition overall, scratches and profuse fine scratches around main plate case screw area, some fine and micro-fine scratches elsewhere to plates, small area of marring around balance cock screw; dial has two faint hls below seconds-register, faint hl at 7:30, group of very faint hls at edge near 8, group of small hls at edge between 5 and 6; excellent hands; case shows very little wear, no dents or dings, excellent engraving and engine turning detail showing very little reduction; tight bow, crown shows little wear; good glass crystal.
